Ralph Ellison

Ralph Ellison (1914-1994), scholar, writer

Born Ralph Waldo Ellison on March 1, 1914 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma he was an African American author best known for his novel Invisible Man[?], which won the National Book Award in 1953.

In 1970, Ellison was made a Professor at New York University.

Ralph Ellison died on April 16, 1994 of pancreatic cancer and is buried in Washington Heights.
