Province of New Mexico, Mexico

At times an administrative unit of New Spain and, after independence, of Mexico centered on the Rio Grande valley. Its capital was Santa Fe. Most of the population of the Province lived in what is now New Mexico but its borders extended much further into what is now Colorado, Arizona, and Utah
