Precious metal

A precious metal is one of a group of metallic elements that are rare, expensive, and chemically less reactive compared to most metals, as well as being valued for jewelry. The metals conventionally accepted in this category are:

Silver is sometimes classed as precious, although it differs in being less rare and expensive, and also more reactive than the others above.
