Pope Anacletus I

Eusebius, Irenaeus, Augustine and Optatus[?] consider Cletus and Anacletus to be the same person, but differ in the order of the first popes: Irenaeus lists Linus, Anacletus, Clement, but Augustine and Optatus list Linus, Clement, Anacletus.

Catalogus Liberianus[?], Carmen contra Marcionem and Liber Pontificalis state that Anacletus and Cletus are different persons.

According to the catalogues he occupied the papal chair for twelve years (c. 77-88), and died as martyr. His relics are kept in Saint Linus Church, Vatican City. His memorial day is April 26.
