Polytechnic

Polytechnics were tertiary teaching institutions in England until they were abolished by the Further and Higher Education Act (1992)[?]. The title is still used elsewhere. Historically their curriculum concentrated on technological subjects.

Most British polytechnics became universities after 1992.

Compare TAFE in Australian contexts.
