Pogo

Pogo was the principal cartoon character in a daily comic strip by Walt Kelly.
He was a possum located in Okefenoke swamp and spent a great deal of time fishing from a simple, slab-sided scow. His discussions with the other denizens of the swamp had a great deal of bearing on the external world, so one would wonder that such an obvious "country" soul could have such urbane things to say.
