Piero de' Medici

Piero de' Medici, 1471-1503, son of Lorenzo de' Medici (il Magnifico) and brother of Pope Leo X. Known as "Piero the Unfortunate."

Upon taking over the family bank from his father, Piero quickly called-up on bad loans made to various de' Medici supporters. This subsequently drove many of the de' Medici supporters into bankruptcy. After Charles VIII of France was brought into Italy by Sforza and Milan, Piero quckly gives up, in an attempt to be left alone. This leads to the de' Medici family being exiled from Florence in 1494.
