Penn Central Railroad

The Penn Central Railroad was an American railroad company that existed from 1968 to 1976. Formed by the merger of the Pennsylvania Railroad[?] and the New York Central Railroad[?], with the addition of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad[?] at the end of 1968, it went bankrupt two years later. In 1976 it was one of the six bankrupt East Coast railroads whose rail assets were merged by the federal government into CONRAIL. The successor to its non-rail assets is American Financial Group[?].

Corporate headquarters were located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
