Pacific Crest Trail

The Pacific Crest Trail is a long-distance hiking trail that passes along the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, and the Cascade Mountains in Oregon and Washington states. In southern California, it passes along the San Bernardino Mountains[?] and several other minor ranges.

The Pacific Crest Trail is 2,650 miles long (4,240 kilometers). It was dedicated as a National Scenic Trail[?] in 1993. About 300 people attempt to hike the trail each year taking about 6 months. Only around 180 complete the hike each year.

The Pacific Crest Trail along with the Appalachian Trail and the Continental Divide Trail form the Triple Crown of long distance hiking.

The trail is maintained by the Pacific Crest Trail Association (http://www.pcta.org/).
