California State Route 1

Redirected from Pacific Coast Highway

State Route 1, more generally known as Highway 1, or in Southern California the Pacific Coast Highway, runs along the Pacific coast for most of the length of the state of California.

Highway 1 is famous for boasting some of the most beautiful coastline in the world, including the cliffs of Big Sur and the beaches of southern California. For most of its length, Highway 1 is a winding, two lane road. State parks[?] and small coastal towns can be found amongst hundreds of miles of wilderness. Many Californians take weekend road trips[?] along this highway.

State Route 1 is often erroneously referred to a US Highway 1, but that distinction is reserved for the US Highway which follows the East Coast of the United States.
