Oldenburg (district)

Oldenburg is a Kreis (district) in the western part of Lower Saxony, Germany. Area 1063 km², population 119,300 (2000). The district's capital is Wildeshausen[?].

The district does not include the city of Oldenburg, but it extends from the southern outskirts of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst[?] southwards. The Hunte[?] river enters the district in the south, runs through Wildeshausen and leaves in the north towards Oldenburg city.
