In the fictional
Scrooge McDuck universe, the
Number One Dime is the first coin that
Scrooge McDuck ever earned. According to
The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, Scrooge earned the
dime[?] when he was ten years old. Before that belonged to
Howard Rockerduck (the father of
John Rockerduck). Scrooge still has the dime and keeps it on a pillow under glass because it is very special to him. It is only special because it is the first coin he earned even though
Donald Duck,
Huey Dewey and Louie, and
Gladstone Gander among many others think it is really a lucky charm.
Magica De Spell believes the dime has magic powers inside it and she tries to steal it from Scrooge so she can melt the coin into an amulet for herself. The Number One Dime first appeared in
Uncle Scrooge Four Color #3 in the story titled "The Round Money Bin", which was written in
1953 by
Carl Barks.
