Notasulga is a town located in Lee County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 916.

Geography Notasulga is located at 32°33'39" North, 85°40'3" West (32.560821, -85.667631)1.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 36.1 km² (13.9 mi²). 36.0 km² (13.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.43% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 916 people, 393 households, and 260 families residing in the town. The population density is 25.4/km² (65.9/mi²). There are 446 housing units at an average density of 12.4/km² (32.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 66.27% White, 32.42% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.55% from other races, and 0.55% from two or more races. 0.76% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 393 households out of which 26.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% are married couples living together, 14.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% are non-families. 29.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.33 and the average family size is 2.87.

In the town the population is spread out with 23.4% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 28.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 86.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $31,307, and the median income for a family is $34,479. Males have a median income of $27,500 versus $18,684 for females. The per capita income for the town is $17,115. 17.8% of the population and 10.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 20.8% are under the age of 18 and 11.2% are 65 or older.
