Northern Schleswig

Northern Schleswig is the geographical area covering the 30 most southern kilometers of Denmark. The area has formerly been a part of Schleswig-Holstein but was annexed by Denmark after a referendum in 1920.

Today the area is known as Sønderjylland in Danish and Nord Schleswig in German.

Northern Schleswig and Southern Schleswig constitute the geographical region Schleswig.

The major towns of Northern Schleswig are Sønderborg, Padborg[?], Tønder, Aabenraa and Haderslev.
