Norrbotten (county)

The County of Norrbotten is a county or län in the extreme north of Sweden. It borders to the County of Västerbotten and the Gulf of Bothnia. It also borders to the Norwegian counties of Nordland and Finnmark, and the Finnish administrative province of Lapland. There is furthermore a Swedish traditional province of Norrbotten.

The County of Norrbotten is divided upon the provinces of Norrbotten and Lappland.

The territory became a county with its own Governors of Norrbotten in 1810. The main aim of the County Administrative Board is to fullfil the goals set in national politics by the Parliament and the Government, to coordinate the interests of the county, to promote the development of the county, to establish regional goals and safeguard the due process of law in the handling of each case.
