Geography The census area has a total area of 73,253 km² (28,283 mi²). 59,572 km² (23,001 mi²) of it is land and 13,681 km² (5,282 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 18.68% water.

Demographics As of 2000, there are 9,196 people, 2,693 households, and 1,898 families residing in the census area. The population density is 0/km² (0/mi²). There are 3,649 housing units at an average density of 0 persons/km² (0 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the census area is 19.32% White, 0.38% African American, 75.20% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 4.21% from two or more races. 1.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
