No More Mr. Nice Guy (Gang Starr album)

No More Mr. Nice Guy is the debut album by alternative hip hop artist Gang Starr, released in 1989 (see 1989 in music). The album was a critical success upon its first release, when it came amid the first wave of alternative hip hop acts like De La Soul, though No More Mr. Nice Guy remains somewhat overshadowed by massively influentiall albums like 3 Feet High and Rising. This may be due to its old school simplicity, both in rhyming by Guru, and in the beats by DJ Premier[?]. Unlike later albums, like Step in the Arena[?], No More Mr. Nice Guy does not tackle social or political issues; it consists quite a few love songs and boasting tracks.

No More Mr. Nice Guy peaked at #83 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. "Positivity" peaked at #19 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart.
