National Trails is an umbrella agency of the UK government which has a mandate to promote, maintain and develop the network of long distance footpaths in the United Kingdom.

Long Distance Footpaths:

Southern Upland Way[?]
Pennine Way[?]
West Highland Way
Wolds Way[?]
Hadrians Wall Path[?]
Cleveland Way[?]
The Ridgeway
Thames Path[?]
South West Coast Path[?]

Together these are over 4,000km long.
