Nancy Drew

Nancy Drew is the heroine of a popular mystery series for girls. Edward, who created the character and series in 1930, Edna and, primarily, Harriet Stratemeyer (Adams) wrote all of the first Nancy Drew stories over the years until the 1980s. Authors were hired by the Stratemeyer Syndicate to fill-in the Stratemeyer family written plots for their mystery stories, under their direction, under the pseudonym of Carolyn Keene. Mildred Benson was one of the Syndicate hired authors who fleshed-out 25 of the Stratemeyer family stories for the first books in the series.

Over 200 million have been sold worldwide. Many folks collect the series which has gone through several formats over the years.

Actress Bonita Granville[?] portrayed the character of Nancy Drew in four movies in the 1930s. A television series called The Hardy Boys[?] Nancy Drew Mysteries appeared on television in the 1970s, and another, brief series appeared in 1995.
