Music of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

One of the most popular forms of music in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is kwassa kwassa[?], which was invented in the late 1980s and popularized by artists like Kanda Bongo Man[?]. Kwassa kwassa, rhumba[?] and zouk[?] were mixed during the 1980s and 90s, resulting soukous[?]. Many Congolese musicians moved to Paris, which became an important source for soukous music; the modern sound has become one of the best-selling genres across the continent.
