Music of Zimbabwe

Zimbabwean music includes folk and pop styles. Much of it is based on the mbira[?], a traditional instrument from the Zezuru[?] Shona[?]. It has 22-28 metal keys on a soundboard, usually placed in a large gourd resonator.

• Chimurenga[?] - originally Shona, chimurenga is mbira-based and wildly popular; includes stars like Thomas Mapfumo[?]
• Jit[?] - a form of dance music
