Mountain Meadows, Utah

Mountain Meadows, Utah is an area in southern Utah located on the Spanish Trail[?] on the overland route to California used by migrants to graze their stock and rest. It was there that the incident known as the Mountain Meadows Massacre happened in September 1857 when Mormon settlors and indians ambushed and killed all but the young children of a migrant party traveling from Arkansas to California on the verge of the Utah War[?]. In 1990 a memorial was dedicated there recognizing the victims of the incident.
