Morgan is a city located in Calhoun County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,464. The city is the county seat of Calhoun County6.

Geography Morgan is located at 31°32'20" North, 84°36'4" West (31.538877, -84.601034)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,464 people, 108 households, and 69 families residing in the city. The population density is 428.2/km² (1,113.3/mi²). There are 128 housing units at an average density of 37.4/km² (97.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 33.13% White, 66.53% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.34% from two or more races. 8.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 108 households out of which 25.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.6% are married couples living together, 16.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% are non-families. 33.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.23 and the average family size is 2.76.

In the city the population is spread out with 3.4% under the age of 18, 17.6% from 18 to 24, 58.4% from 25 to 44, 16.9% from 45 to 64, and 3.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 992.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 1,246.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $25,000, and the median income for a family is $32,500. Males have a median income of $26,974 versus $16,667 for females. The per capita income for the city is $6,414. 25.6% of the population and 19.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 25.0% are under the age of 18 and 23.3% are 65 or older.
