MIMOS Berhad

MIMOS Berhad is a technology R&D[?] company owned by the Malaysian government and based in Kuala Lumpur. which advises the Malaysian government on technologies.

It was established as the Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems (MIMOS) on 1 January 1985 and attached to the Prime Minister's Office. By 1990, MIMOS was attached to the Ministry of Science, Technology, and the Environment (MOSTE[?]). In January 1995, MIMOS was appointed as the Secretariat to the National IT Council[?] (NITC) where it promotes Information and Communications Technology (ICT). On November 1, 1996, MIMOS was renamed MIMOS Berhad.

In 1991, MIMOS brought the Internet to Malaysia with the Jaring ISP. This ISP ran at 45 Mbps[?]. In 1999, SuperJARING was running at 2.5 Gbps[?].

The corporate motto is, "Innovation for life!"

In early 2003, Mimos launched the Asian Open Source Centre.
