Merovech

Merovech (French Mérovée) was a chief of the Salian Franks in the 5th century. He is considered a semi-legendary individual, as not much information survived about him. Gregory of Tours records that he was the son of Chlodio[?] and father of Childeric I. His descendants called themselves Merovingians, or the House of Merovech.
