Merchtem

Merchtem is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Brussegem[?], Hamme and Merchtem proper. On January 1st, 2000 Merchtem had a total population of 14,250 (7,091 males and 7,159 females). The total area is 36.79 km² which gives a population density of 387.33 inhabitants per km².
