Memory stick

Redirected from Memory Stick

A memory stick started out as a proprietary interface promulgated by the Sony Corporation. The first versions were about the size of a stick of gum. Newer versions are about half the length of the older version to fit into smaller devices. Their primary usage is as removable computer storage.

For example, a digital camera will store images onto a memory stick. The memory stick may be removed and plugged into a computer or printer with an appropriate slot so the images may be transferred to the computer or printed.

Memory sticks may also carry music or anything else that can be distilled into a digital format.

Additionally, some versions have an additional feature called MagicGate[?] which assists the device using the memory stick with content protection[?].
