Mel Lastman

Mel Lastman is the exuberant mayor of Toronto, a personality that Toronto residents either loved or hated.

First elected as Mayor of the former Borough of North York[?] in 1972, Lastman became the first Mayor of the amalgamated City of Toronto on January 2, 1998, defeating former City of Toronto Mayor Barbara Hall by a narrow margin.
