Martin Wagner

Artist and filmmaker currently living in Austin, Texas. Born April 27, 1966. He spent his childhood living overseas, in such locales as Dubai and Singapore.

A film major at the University of Texas, Wagner began his comic strip Hepcats in 1987, and published it as a comic book until 1998. A critical success but a financial flop, Wagner gave up the comic after a failed revival attempt by Antarctic Press. In 1999, Wagner did some early conceptual drawings for director Robert Rodriguez for his film Spy Kids, and since then has been illustrating childrens' books as well as beginning a new career working in Austin-area film production.
