In the Pacific theater of World War II, the American Marianas Campaign, known as Operation Forager, pushed westward from the Marshall Islands in the summer of 1944 to capture the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Guam. Another battle of the Marianas campaign was the naval Battle of the Philippine Sea[?].
