Mansa Musa

Mansa Musa was a grandson of warrior king Sundiata. Sundiata founded the Mali Empire in the 13th century.

Mansa Musa is most remembered for his fabled hajj. It is said that Mansa Musa had so much gold with him when he went on his hajj, that when he gave it as charity in Cairo, the value of gold dropped dramatically for 12 years.
