Manipulative therapy involves use of
massage and other physical manipulation of the body for healing. Manipulative therapy is used in
chiropractic medicine,
osteopathic medicine,
alternative medicine and by mainstream medical practitioners. It has a long history going back to the practice of laying on of hands. It relies partially upon the
placebo effect and may be effective in providing both short and long term relief.
