Macquarie University

Macquarie University is an institution of higher learning located in the north-western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. (North Ryde to be exact.) The University is named for colonial Governor Lachlan Macquarie[?]. Founded in 1965, it was Sydney's third university. It is adjacent to the Macquarie Centre, a large shopping centre for the district.

Transport to and from the university is primarily by bus and car, but an increasing number of students ride bicycles or live in or near campus, making walking an effective option. A new rail link from Chatswood[?] to Parramatta is currently underway, and a station will be established at the university, which will alleviate transport headaches.
