Lycopodiaceae

Lycopodiaceae
Scientific classification
Domain:Eukaryotes
Kingdom:Plantae
Division:Lycophyta
Class:Lycopsida
Order:Lycopodiales
Family:Lycopodiaceae
Genera

The Lycopodiaceae as traditionally used included all the clubmosses plus Phylloglossum[?]. At one time it was sometimes construed to even include Selaginella[?] and Isoetes[?]. However, it is now recognized that divisions within the Lycophyta are ancient enough to warrant higher-level division in accordance with cladistic considerations.

The Lycopodiaceae as construed here includes only the core Lycopods, excluding the firmosses, genus Huperzia. All clubmosses in this family bear their spore on specialized structures.
