Lusaka, Zambia

Lusaka is the capital city of Zambia. It is located in south central Zambia on a plateau at 4200 feet in altitude.

Lusaka was founded in 1905 by European settlers. In 1935 it replaced Livingstone[?] as the capital of Northern Rhodesia[?], a british colony. In 1964 it became the capital of the newly independent Zambia. Population (1990) 982,362.

On March 1, 1999 four bombs detonated in Lusaka, one of which destroyed the Angolan Embassy.
