Lund

Lund (population 98,948) is a municipality and city in the County of Skåne, in southern Sweden. The city was made see of the first archbishop in Scandinavia in 1103, its cathedral stems from this time and a 900 years celebration taking place in 2003. It was thereafter the see of the Danish archbishop[?] until the the Reformation, in 1536. In 1658 the entire province of Skåne, was ceded by Denmark to Sweden, by the Treaty of Roskilde. On December 4 in 1676 it was defended at the Battle of Lund[?], one of the bloodiest battles fought in Sweden.

Lund University, established in 1666 is one of Sweden's largest, although the city is relatively small. Lund is also home to the Tetra Pak industry that markets paper packaging machinery for milk and orange juice all over the world. Ericsson develops cell phone handsets in Lund. Other important industry includes medical drugs, electronics, and publishing and library services.
