Louisburg, Nova Scotia

Louisburg is a former town on Cape Breton Island of Nova Scotia, Canada. Louisburg was settled by the French who called it Louisbourg soon after 1713. It was incorporated in 1901. When six towns were joined into the Cape Breton Regional Municipality[?] in 1995, Louisburg was reduced to a neighborhood.

In the 18th century it was also the site of a strategically important military post, the Fortress Louisbourg, which is now an historic site and park.
