Londonderry Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 69.6 km² (26.9 mi²). 59.0 km² (22.8 mi²) of it is land and 10.6 km² (4.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 15.23% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 5,224 people, 2,004 households, and 1,517 families residing in the township. The population density is 88.6/km² (229.4/mi²). There are 2,095 housing units at an average density of 35.5/km² (92.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.74% White, 0.77% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. 0.67% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,004 households out of which 33.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.3% are non-families. 20.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the township the population is spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.0 males.
