London Borough of Havering

The London Borough of Havering is a London borough in outer northeast London, near the border with Essex. It is rumoured to have been named from a contraction of the phrase "Have a ring". The principal town in Havering is Romford.

Although it is administratively part of the London region, postal addresses for areas within Havering specify 'Essex' as the county. Therefore, many Havering residents give their location as Essex.
