Loir-et-Cher
Loir-et-Cher is a French département (#41). It is in the Centre region of north-central France, and was formed from parts of the old provinces of Orléanais[?] and Touraine.
Its main waterways are the Cher River and the Loire River on which the town of Blois, the préfecture (capital) of the departement, is situated.
Sous-préfectures: Romorantin Lanthenay[?] and Vendôme.
The département is the site of the Royal château of Blois, Chateau Cheverny, Chateau Chaumont, as well as the village of Chambord[?] with its renowned Chateau Chambord built by King François I.
