Loa loa filariasis

Loa loa filariasis (also known as loiasis) is a disease caused by the worm loa loa filaria. Humans contract this disease through the bite of a horse fly. The disease can cause red ichy swellings below the skin called "Calabar swellings[?]". The disease is treated with the drug notezine (diethylcarbamazine).
