Lick Observatory

The Lick Observatory is a research facility of the University of California situated on the summit of Mount Hamilton, California[?]. The Observatory was founded in 1888 by the eccentric millionaire James Lick[?].

The 36-inch refractor telescope[?] was in 1888 the world's largest telescope, but it was outperformed in 1897 by the Yerkes 40-inch refractor.
