Yerkes Observatory

The Yerkes Observatory is a research facilty of the University of Chicago.

The observatory was created by George Ellery Hale[?] and financed in 1897 by Charles Tyson Yerkes.

The 40-inches refractor[?], was in 1897 the world's largest telescope and remains today the largest refracting telescope.
