Languedoc-Roussillon

Languedoc-Roussillon is an administrative région of France, divided into five départements : Aude, Gard, Hérault, Lozère, Pyrénées-Orientales.

The regional capital is Montpellier.
Population : 2 300 000 (1999 census)

The name derives from two historical regions and former Provinces of France: Languedoc, and Roussillon, to which the modern région somewhat corresponds.
