Aude is a French département, number 11, named after the Aude River.

Préfecture (capital): Carcassonne.

Sous-préfectures: Limoux[?], Narbonne.

Located between the sea and mountains, the Aude is the heart of the Cathare[?] world and is an area of great historical significance.
