Koekelare is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Bovekerke[?], Koekelare proper and Zande[?]. On January 1st, 2000 Koekelare had a total population of 8,154 (4,114 males and 4,040 females). The total area is 39.53 km² which gives a population density of 206.27 inhabitants per km².
