Keeping Up Appearances is a British sitcom about the constant struggles of the protagonist Hyacinth Bucket (which she pronounces as Bouquet) to appear of a higher social class than she is. The shows frequently revolve around her latest scheme to move up in life (for example her "sophisticated candlelit suppers") getting foiled.
