Kashgar

Kashgar is a Chinese city, in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

It is home to an important Muslim community (Uighurs).

The city has a very important Sunday market.

It was on the Silk Road during the 1st millennium AD.

The Karakorum highway (KKH) links Islamabad, Pakistan with Kashgar over the Khunjerab Pass.

Kyrgyzstan is also accessible from Kashgar, over the Torugart Pass[?].
