John Baptist de La Salle

John Baptist de La Salle (April 30, 1651 - April 07[?], 1719) was a teacher and educational reformer. He is the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools[?]. He is regarded as the father of modern pedagogy[?]. His name in French[?] is Jean Baptiste de La Salle.

He was born in in Reims, France.

He died in Saint-Yon, Rouen, France.

He was canonized by Leo XIII on May 24, 1900. His feast is celebrated on May 15. He is the patron saint of Christian teachers.
