Jerash

Jerash (ancient Gerasa) was a city of the Decapolis, its ruins now located in the Gilead[?] region of Jordan.

The city was built in the 2nd century BC at the frontier of the Roman Empire. The ruins are spectacular, since there are a large number of monuments, and especially the Forum a place with a fine colonnade around it.

Other monuments are include Adrian's Arch, the Nymphaeum, the South Theatre, the Temple of Zeus, the Artemis Temple, and a smaller theatre in the north.

Churches In the city there were 14 churches, with high-quality mosaics of the Byzantine era.
